Brynn- Grade 3 Homeschool Portfolio 2019-2020



Reading Log:
Brynn independently read 43 books and enjoyed 15 audiobooks this year.



Daily Learning Notebooks:
We use the Daily Learning Notebooks as a tool to transition back into school days from vacations or breaks. We also use them to maintain and refine skills.





Math Curriculum Used:
Horizons Math: Grade 3
Resources: Musical Multiplication, Mathseeds
*As this is a spiral-learning curriculum, I did not force Brynn to do every problem on review sections. She was required to demonstrate to me that she could do 1-3 problems without help or questions before she could move to the next section. She was also responsible for completing every question on tests without my help.








Literature and Language Arts Curriculum:
The Good & The Beautiful
      Level 2: Lessons #84-#122
      Level 3: Lessons #1- #90










Resources: Reading Eggspress (reading comprehension)

Science Curriculums Used:
The Good & The Beautiful Marine Biology Unit



Resources: Florida Aquarium sleepover with AHG Troop
Brynn helped to perform a squid dissection.


History Curriculum Used:
The Good & The Beautiful History - Year 2


We explored ancient civilizations and maintained a historical timeline.
The specific areas we studied this year were Ancient Asia and Ancient Greece.



Brynn studied Native American tribes, specifically, the Inuit and the Tlingit tribes. She created history pockets with information on each specific tribe that we studied. We plan to study more Native American tribes next year.


Art Curriculum used:
Blossom & Root
Brynn learned about Claude Monet and his works in these lessons.



Youth Class at Dunedin Fine Art Center:
Mixed Media Arts taught by Allyson Barner
Brynn really enjoyed learning about the works of Georgia O'Keeffe, Andy Warhol, and Henri Matisse. The class made their own pieces based on the works of each artist.
